So, the snow has been falling for about an hour in Ramsgate! Not that I am excited, at all…….me, love snow?!
Of course I do! Luck was on my side today as some lens accessories arrived in the post. I welcomed the Lensbaby, what I call my toy lens to the fold recently and the reason I call it my toy lens is because you can have waaaaaaay to much fun with it. So, I knew out of focus snowflakes could look pretty so I put the new accessory to the test and I could not have been more overwhelmingly excited by the results. By shooting directly up into the falling snow with the help of some flash, I was able to capture the falling flakes in the most beautiful way. I am looking forward to getting out into the snow tomorrow morning. What do you think to these beauties?

The images were created by ignoring any ‘rules’, shooting out of focus and aiming to blur the flakes. Every flake that was hit by some of the light from the flash became visible and because I had dropped a shaped filter into the lensbaby it bent the rays of light into the shape that was there. You don’t need a lensbaby to do this and there is a lovely DIY tutorial here that explains how to do it if you want to give it a go. I just want to shoot into the sky all evening!
