Well, Febuary whistled by and what a busy and defining month (more about this in the post!) it has been! Here’s my happy snapping summary from my instagrams this month…..
It started with a bang, with a totally amazing collaborative project with some of Kent’s best wedding suppliers, I can’t wait to share the whole shoot with you all, but for now, click over to Facebook to see just one of the images from the day and a roll call of all of the fab folk who got together!
I zipped up to London to meet up with one of my summer couples for their engagement shoot around Camden. It was such a cold day, so the mad ear-muffs were called for!
As usual coffee was a great feature of the month, and the back of the Costa van made me smile…..I wonder what the reception would be if I call when I have a coffee emergency! My little brother stunned me this month with a brilliant macro shot of smarties, and this is an action shot of him capturing the goodness!
Right, so, I mentioned at the start of the post that this month was a defining one. I was referring to a big decision that we made. Mark and I have nearly been married 6 years and we’ve been saving up to buy some bricks for a while now. I’ve always had a heart dreaming of living by the sea, but the head knew that living more centrally in Kent would work better for us. We looked at a lovely development in the market town of Ashford and took the plunge!! But, we’ll have to wait until August when it is due to be built, so until then, I’ve developed a pinterest addition to my board ‘No place like home’ and house magazines!! Can’t wait for my little family to make a home together – love my boys!!!
I love working with people, be that capturing images of special moments or teaching and watching people grow. This month, I put together my Practiotioner’s talk with the help of some fab photography industry folk and had the best day with my class at University.
There were more client meetings this month and venue visits in advance of some rather wonderfully anticipated days, and admin times sponsored by my favourite, Yorkshire Tea. One of my couple’s from 2012 were featured in Kent Life’s wedding special and Obsessions Salon who did Yuan’s hair and make-up have framed the article in their salon.
Mum, Kate & I had a girly day out, quilt making at The Sewing Shop in Canterbury. It was such a great day and I have found myself sewing away most evenings since when I can grab a spare moment. I so love this shop, full of totally beautiful things and the beautiful classes that help you to develop new skills.
Friends came to stay and they have a beautiful 11 month old – in fact, she just turned one today! Katherine had some Mummy time and made Emily a cushion, but to buck the trend, Todd made a couple of lines of the patchwork too, so they had a beautiful family cushion to take home. We popped to Ashford and happened to slide by the plot….and the cement was in the foundations. It is really tempting to keep popping back!! Nature also put on the most amazing sunset over Canterbury one day and the only camera I had with my was my phone – still looks lovely though!
GEEK came to Margate and I was lucky enough to go to the preview evening. It was so wonderful to see the town so alive and as part of my work at the uni, I’d organised for students to volunteer to support the festival and develop their artistic and digital skills!
More of the making bug took hold this month, with clothes plasters and cushions….its nice to drift off into a creative bubble!
The month ended with me dusting off my old piano books for a tinkling trip down memory lane, a spa day with my beautifully pregnant friend (loved her TFL badge), The Wedding Dolls networking drinks and a super Private View of Karen Shepherdson’s new exhibition, Close to Home at The Burton Gallery.
Hope you had a fab Feb!
