I started my photo journey on 35mm film, developing at Lawn’s Newsagents in Broadstairs many years ago. As technology evolved, I moved onto digital, it suits me as it is easy to use, store, produce and so on. But, when I think of film, I feel all nostalgic, that inextricable link to my past and having to think differently when I shoot, there are only 24 frames on a film! Dad bought me an old Nikon F55 last year and I shot a black and white film on a course and developed it. It was the greatest feeling, but time has not allowed for me to shoot more film. Earlier this week, I decided to dust it off and add some more film cameras to the collection! Here’s a mix of images from my lomography/Shard daytrip to London and my stroll on a rather overcast Viking Bay today.
The light in London was glorious on Monday. It was lovely to shoot in it on the ground but did prove a bit challenging up The Shard. The hazy atmosphere turned into a big light box, but it did give some beautiful conditions on the ground!
When we hit the beach today, and then my impatience at wanting to know what the film might have come out like took me up to Westwood Cross to get it processed. My favourite images it the one of my brother. The tones and the texture are just something else and I’ve totally fallen in love with film again today!
Looking forward to shooting more film, this week has been epic!
